Cairo is the largest city in the Arab world and Africa, and headquarters of the Arab League. The cooler months (October–April) are the most comfortable for sightseeing. The Cairo Metro is fast and inexpensive, and ride-hailing apps are widely used; Friday mornings are the quietest time to wander the old city. For the best panorama, ride up the 187-metre Cairo Tower on Gezira Island.
