Egypt's tourism industry is a major pillar of its economy, driven by its ancient history, unique culture, and coastlines along the Mediterranean and Red Seas. After disruptions from instability and the pandemic, the sector has been in strong recovery.

In 2023 Egypt received 14.9 million international visitors, surpassing pre-pandemic levels, and tourism contributed an estimated 24% of GDP — with officials targeting 30 million annual visitors by 2030.

A major driver was the long-awaited full opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum in November 2025, now home to King Tutankhamun's complete collection. With more than a hundred hotel projects under way and improved flight connectivity, Egypt is targeting 30 million visitors by 2030.
