المقر الرسمي الجديد للحكومة المصرية شرق القاهرةThe new official seat of Egypt's government, east of Cairo.
The New Administrative Capital (NAC) is a new urban community east of Cairo that is now the official seat of the Egyptian government. Part of the country's "Vision 2030," it is intended to relieve congestion in the overcrowded city of Cairo.
Roughly the size of Singapore at about 700 km², it is designed for 6.5 million residents. Government ministries, the presidential palace, and parliament have relocated there, and President el-Sisi was sworn in for his third term in the city in April 2024.

The project, estimated to cost over $50 billion, is largely financed by the Egyptian government with support from Chinese state firms. Critics note the scale of the investment relative to the country's debt levels.

Officially renamed simply "The New Capital" in November 2025, the city is now the working seat of Egypt's government: more than a dozen ministries, Parliament, and the Presidency have relocated, and President el-Sisi was sworn in there for his third term in April 2024. An electric light-rail line (LRT) already links it to Cairo in under an hour, with a 96-km monorail under construction. The first residents have begun moving in, toward a planned population of six to eight million.
