By the Numbers · بالأرقام
Running since 2014, Egypt's National Roads Project has built around 7,000 km of new highways, upgraded thousands more, and added roughly 1,000 bridges and tunnels — backed by close to EGP 1.1 trillion of investment. The push lifted Egypt's global Road Quality Index ranking from 118th in 2014 to 18th in 2024. New corridors now reach beyond the borders too — toward Cape Town, a planned road to Chad and West Africa, and a proposed Red Sea bridge to Saudi Arabia linking Africa and Asia.
