How many days do you need in Egypt?
Seven days covers Cairo and Luxor at a reasonable pace. Ten days comfortably adds a Nile cruise to Aswan or four nights on the Red Sea. Fourteen days lets you add Abu Simbel, Alexandria and a slower start in Cairo without moving hotels every night.
Is Egypt expensive to travel in?
Egypt is inexpensive by European or North American standards once you have arrived. Flights and the Nile cruise are the two big costs; food, taxis, domestic flights and most entry tickets are cheap by comparison. Budget travellers manage on a modest daily spend, while five-star hotels and private guides still cost well below equivalents in Europe.
What is the best month to visit Egypt?
October to April, with October, November, March and April giving the best balance of warm weather and manageable crowds. December and January are the busiest and coolest; June to August is very hot inland but quieter and cheaper, and remains fine on the Red Sea.
Do I need a visa for Egypt?
Most visitors do. The usual options are an e-visa applied for online before travel, or a visa on arrival bought at the airport. Some nationalities are exempt and arrivals into Sharm El Sheikh who stay in South Sinai can use a free entry stamp instead. Check the official portal before you book.
