Day by dayيومًا بيوم
- Day 1 — Arrive Cairo, transfer, no sightseeing.
- Day 2 — Giza plateau and the Sphinx; Grand Egyptian Museum.
- Day 3 — Saqqara, Memphis and Dahshur, or Islamic and Coptic Cairo.
- Day 4 — Fly to Luxor. Karnak and Luxor Temple. Board the boat.
- Day 5 — West Bank: Valley of the Kings, Hatshepsut, Colossi. Sail to Esna.
- Day 6 — Edfu's Temple of Horus; Kom Ombo in the afternoon.
- Day 7 — Aswan: Philae, the High Dam, a felucca. Abu Simbel as an optional add-on.
- Day 8 — Fly Aswan to Cairo and home.
The reverse — Cairo, fly to Aswan, sail downstream to Luxor — is a night shorter on the boat and usually slightly cheaper.
Comparing two quotesمقارنة عرضين
| Boat name | Not the star rating. Ratings on the Nile are self-declared; the name lets you check reviews and the refit date. |
|---|---|
| Cairo hotel location | Giza-side with pyramid views, Nile-side downtown, or an airport business hotel — a large difference in experience at similar prices. |
| Tickets | Which are included. This is the most common gap between two otherwise identical quotes. |
| Guiding | Private Egyptologist throughout, or a shared guide on the boat only? |
| Abu Simbel | Almost always an optional extra. Ask whether by road or air. |
| Internal flights | Should be included. Confirm they are, and that they're on scheduled carriers. |
Making it betterكيف تحسّنه
Three changes improve this package more than any amount of extra spending: add a fourth Cairo night so Saqqara doesn't compete with Islamic Cairo, request the earliest possible start at Giza and the Valley of the Kings, and put Abu Simbel in by air rather than road if the budget allows.
The ten and fourteen-day expansions are on the itineraries page.
Common questionsأسئلة شائعة
How long is the standard Cairo and Nile cruise package?
Eight days is the most common, as three or four Cairo nights plus a four-night cruise. Seven and ten-day versions exist with the same structure.
Does the package include Abu Simbel?
Usually not — it's sold as an optional add-on from Aswan, by road or by short flight. Ask which, since the road version means a very early start and six hours of driving.
Which Cairo hotel area is best for this package?
Giza-side if you want pyramid views and early plateau access; Nile-side downtown or Zamalek if you want to walk out to restaurants and the old city in the evening.
Is the cruise or the Cairo portion better value?
The Cairo portion is easy to replicate independently and cheaply. The cruise is where an operator's buying power and block-booked cabins genuinely help.
