Count the blocks, not the days:
- Cairo pyramids and museums — 2 full days minimum, 3 to include Saqqara and Dahshur properly.
- Luxor — 2 full days.
- Aswan — 1 day, 2 if you like it there, and most people do.
- Abu Simbel — 1 day.
- Nile cruise — 3 or 4 nights, which partly overlaps the Luxor and Aswan days above.
- Red Sea — 4 nights minimum for it to register as a rest.
- Travel days — 1 at each end, plus your arrival day, which you should not schedule.

The three recurring mistakes: scheduling sightseeing on the arrival day, driving between cities that are a one-hour flight apart, and booking two major sites in one day. Each costs more than it saves.

It's enough for Cairo — the pyramids, the Grand Egyptian Museum, Saqqara and the old city. It isn't enough to add Luxor or a cruise without cutting Cairo short.

Seven, with an internal flight between them. That gives roughly four days in Cairo and three in Luxor at a sensible pace.
