The most popular shape for a two-week trip: pyramids and museums, a Nile cruise, then four or five nights on the coast to recover. Hurghada connects most easily to Luxor by road; Sharm is a short flight from Cairo.
Slow and specialist
Dahabiya sailing, Western Desert oases and the White Desert, Siwa, liveaboard diving in the southern Red Sea, or a base in Alexandria. Better on a second visit.

Peak season on the coast and the Nile is roughly October to April, with Christmas, New Year and Easter the most expensive fortnights of the year. Summer flips the picture: inland Egypt is punishing but the Red Sea stays busy with European sun-seekers, and cultural trips sell at a discount.
