Foreign tour operators package the trip in your own country, usually with international flights, and subcontract the ground arrangements to an Egyptian company. You pay more for consumer protection, a local contract and someone to call in your time zone.
Egyptian ground operators sell the same hotels, boats and guides directly, often at noticeably lower prices. You are contracting abroad, so check reviews across several independent platforms and pay by card for chargeback rights.
Online travel agents and marketplaces resell both. Read carefully who the actual supplier is — the protections differ.

- Cancellation ladder — what you lose at 90, 60, 30 and 14 days.

- Boat substitution clause — operators reserve the right to move you to a "similar" vessel. Ask what similar means.
- Minimum numbers — group departures can be cancelled if too few book. Find out how late that decision can be made.
