El Galala is a massive development on the mountainous plateau overlooking the Red Sea, between Ain Sokhna and Zafarana. It combines a new city, a world-class resort, and a major highway.
Built on the Northern Galala Plateau over 650–700 m above sea level, it enjoys cooler temperatures and stunning views of the Gulf of Suez, and features sustainable infrastructure including Egypt's first seawater desalination plant.

- El Galala Resort: a high-end resort with hotels, restaurants, and a food court.
- Il Monte Galala: a luxury residential and resort community.
- El Galala Aqua Park: one of Egypt's largest water parks.
- Sky Sports Adventure Park: a rope course, wall climbing, and the longest zip line over the sea in Egypt.
- Cable car: connecting the plateau city to the coastal resort and marina below.
El Galala Road
- An 82-km high-efficiency highway replaced an older, dangerous two-lane road.
- Links Ain Sokhna and Zafarana for a safe, easy route from Cairo to the Red Sea.
Development & Purpose
Overseen by the Armed Forces Engineering Authority, the project began in 2015 and has rolled out in phases, aiming to create new urban communities and boost Red Sea tourism, with over 15,000 employees involved in early phases.
