High on the Galala plateau, overlooking the blue waters of the Gulf of Suez, stands one of Egypt's most ambitious modern resorts: the Galala International Resort. The resort is unusual in spanning two very different settings. High on the plateau, around 700 metres above sea level, a mountain hotel enjoys cool, fresh air and sweeping views over the Gulf of Suez. Far below, on the coast at the foot of the mountains, a coastal hotel and marina sit right by the sea. The two are connected by the resort's celebrated cable car, letting guests travel dramatically between mountain and shore.

Developed as a major state-led national project, the resort was built on an ambitious scale, with hundreds of rooms and chalets across its mountain and coastal hotels, plus pools, a marina, and leisure facilities. Often described as one of the largest integrated tourist resorts in the region, it forms the centrepiece of the wider El Galala development, alongside attractions like the aqua park and the plateau's clifftop promenade.

The resort's great appeal is its elevated, cooler climate — temperatures on the plateau can run noticeably below those of the surrounding coast, making it a comfortable, year-round escape. Lying within easy reach of Cairo and very close to the New Administrative Capital, it offers a fresh alternative to the traditional Red Sea resorts, combining sea, mountains, and a uniquely temperate climate in one spectacular setting near Ain Sokhna.
