One of the most breathtaking experiences in the Galala mountains is simply to walk along the plateau's edge. The Clifftop Promenade is a roughly six-kilometre walkway that hugs the very rim of the plateau, high above a sheer drop to the Gulf of Suez far below. With nothing between you and the blue expanse of the sea but air, it offers some of the most dramatic and beautiful coastal views anywhere in Egypt.

The promenade runs for around 6 kilometres right along the cliff edge of the Galala plateau, set high above a sheer drop of around 200 metres down to the coast. This vertiginous setting is what makes it so spectacular: walkers stroll a safe, landscaped path while the land falls away dramatically beside them to the shore of the Gulf of Suez. It is a defining feature of the plateau city and one of its most popular places to take in the views.

From the promenade, the panorama over the Gulf of Suez and the Red Sea coast is superb, especially at sunrise and sunset when the light plays across the water and cliffs. At around 700 metres up, the air is noticeably cooler and fresher than on the coast below, making a walk here a refreshing pleasure even when the lowlands are hot. It is a perfect spot for photographs, gentle exercise, and simply soaking in the grandeur of the mountain setting.

The Clifftop Promenade is one of the social hearts of the El Galala plateau city, connecting its hotels, cafés, and attractions along a scenic, walkable route. Near the top station of the cable car that descends to the coast, it ties together the mountain-top experience of Galala — a place built to be enjoyed on foot, in the cool air, with the sea always in view.
