On the western edge of Greater Cairo lies 6th of October City, a major industrial and residential city that has become one of Egypt's key manufacturing centers. Its industrial zones host the factories of global brands alongside Egyptian companies, producing cars, electronics, food, pharmaceuticals, and much more. Now a large city with universities, suburbs, and services, it pairs a thriving industrial base with the western counterpart to Cairo's eastern new cities.

6th of October City is one of Greater Cairo's two great industrial wings — the western counterpart to the eastern industrial cities. Its industrial zones are home to a wide range of factories, including those of well-known global and regional brands, producing vehicles, electronics and appliances, pharmaceuticals, food, and consumer goods. This concentration of manufacturing makes it a major contributor to Egypt's industrial economy.
