Beyond wheat, the New Delta grows a range of other staple grains, with corn (maize) among the most important. These grains serve a double purpose: feeding people directly and providing essential feed for Egypt's livestock and poultry. Like wheat, much of this grain has traditionally been imported, so growing it on the new desert farmland is another key step toward strengthening the country's food security and self-reliance.
إلى جانب القمح، تزرع الدلتا الجديدة مجموعةً من الحبوب الأساسية الأخرى، والذرة من أهمّها. وتؤدّي هذه الحبوب غرضًا مزدوجًا: إطعام الناس مباشرةً وتوفير علفٍ أساسي لماشية مصر ودواجنها. ومثل القمح، طالما استُورد كثيرٌ من هذه الحبوب، لذا فإنّ زراعتها في الأرض الصحراوية الجديدة خطوةٌ أخرى رئيسية نحو تعزيز الأمن الغذائي والاعتماد على الذات.

Corn and other grains are among the most versatile crops grown in the New Delta. They feed people directly and, just as importantly, provide the animal feed that underpins Egypt's meat, dairy, and poultry industries. With demand for both food and feed rising alongside the population, expanding domestic grain production helps support the whole food chain — from the field to the farm to the family table.

Soil and climate studies identified grains like corn as strategic crops well suited to the New Delta's reclaimed land — crops that Egypt has often needed to import. Grown with modern machinery and efficient irrigation, they form a core part of the project's planting plan alongside wheat, helping make the most productive use of the new farmland.

By raising more corn and grains domestically, the New Delta reduces Egypt's exposure to volatile global grain markets and strengthens its food security. Stored in the project's silos and processed at Future of Egypt City, this home-grown grain supports both the nation's food supply and its livestock economy, an essential complement to the flagship wheat harvest.
