The New Capital Monorail (the East Nile line) runs roughly 54 kilometres with around two dozen stations, connecting eastern Cairo with the New Administrative Capital. Fully driverless and automated, its modern trains travel at up to 80 km/h, covering the journey in around an hour. After years of construction, it opened to passengers in 2026, providing the first dedicated public-transport spine between Cairo and the new seat of government.

The monorail is designed to plug into the wider transport system: it connects with the Cairo Metro at its Cairo end and with the LRT within the New Capital, so passengers can travel seamlessly across Greater Cairo and into the new city.
