The Rod El Farag Axis — officially the Tahya Misr Axis — is one of Cairo's most important new road corridors, cutting roughly 17 kilometres across the city to connect its eastern districts with the Alexandria Desert Road to the west. Crowned by the record-breaking Tahya Misr Bridge over the Nile, it provides a fast, modern route across the congested capital and forms a key link in Egypt's wider national road network.

The axis runs roughly 17 kilometres on a broadly east–west line across Cairo, connecting the eastern side of the metropolis with the Alexandria Desert Road on the west. Built largely as an elevated expressway, it lets traffic bypass the crowded streets below, dramatically cutting journey times across the city. It is one of the flagship urban corridors of Egypt's national roads programme.

The corridor's most famous element is the Tahya Misr Bridge, the world's widest cable-stayed bridge, which carries the axis over the Nile. This spectacular crossing is what allows so many lanes of traffic to flow across the river at once, and it has become a celebrated landmark in its own right — turning a practical piece of infrastructure into a point of national pride.

It connects into the broader web of new roads, axes, and ring roads built across Egypt over the past decade, all aimed at modernising the country's transport and supporting its growing economy.
