Ancient, classical, and Christian art.فنٌّ قديم وكلاسيكي ومسيحي.
What makes Coptic art so fascinating is that it stands at a crossroads of cultures. In its motifs and styles you can trace the transition from the symbols of ancient Egypt, through the influence of the Greek and Roman world, into the imagery of early Christianity — and on toward the Islamic art that followed. The museum also famously holds some of the Nag Hammadi codices, a celebrated collection of early Christian texts, giving it global importance for the study of religious history.
