Covering roughly 38% of Egypt's land area, New Valley is by far the country's largest governorate — and one of its emptiest. Its oasis towns of Kharga, Dakhla and Farafra dot a vast Western Desert landscape that culminates in the otherworldly rock formations of the White Desert.
