Hours of travel each day for a boy chasing a dream.ساعاتٌ من السفر يوميًّا لصبيٍّ يطارد حلمًا.
Salah was born on 15 June 1992 in Nagrig, a small village in Egypt's Gharbia province. As a teenager he joined the youth academy of the Cairo club El Mokawloon (Arab Contractors), famously enduring long daily bus journeys to train. When the Egyptian league was suspended after the Port Said stadium disaster in 2012, his path led abroad: he signed for the Swiss club FC Basel, where he made his name in Europe. A move to Chelsea in 2014 was followed by loan spells in Italy and a brilliant period at Roma — and it was from Roma that, in the summer of 2017, he joined the club where he would become a legend.

A goalscoring run unlike anything Liverpool had seen.مسيرةٌ تهديفية لم يشهد ليفربول مثلها.
At Liverpool, Salah was an instant sensation. In his very first season (2017–18) he scored a remarkable 32 league goals in a 38-game campaign — a Premier League record — and won the FIFA Puskás Award for goal of the year. He helped Liverpool win the UEFA Champions League in 2019 and the Premier League titles of 2019–20 and 2024–25, ending decades-long waits. His 2024–25 season was historic: he became the first player ever to win the Golden Boot, the Playmaker award, and Player of the Season in a single campaign, with a record 47 goals and assists combined. With four Premier League Golden Boots he equalled the all-time record, and he became Liverpool's all-time top Premier League scorer and the club's third-highest goalscorer in its entire history. In March 2026 he announced he would leave Liverpool at the end of the 2025–26 season, closing a glittering nine-year chapter.

Humility, faith, and giving back to his village.تواضعٌ وإيمانٌ وعطاءٌ لقريته.
Part of what makes Salah so beloved is the man behind the goals. Famous for his humility and his faith — marked by his prostration celebration after scoring — he has poured much of his fortune back into his home village of Nagrig, funding schools, healthcare, and services for the community that raised him. Around the world he is seen as a positive ambassador for Egypt, the Arab world, and Islam, and has repeatedly been named among the most influential people on the planet. For a generation of young Egyptians and Africans, "Mo" Salah is living proof that a child from a small village can become one of the best in the world — and never forget where he came from.
