Known affectionately as the “Bride of Upper Egypt” for its Nile-side setting, Minya holds some of the country's least-visited ancient treasures. The rock-cut tombs of Beni Hasan and the ruins of Amarna — Akhenaten's short-lived capital — sit quietly along the river, far from the crowds of Luxor and Aswan.

تُعرف المنيا بحب بـ«عروس الصعيد» لموقعها على النيل، وتضم بعضًا من أقل كنوز مصر القديمة زيارة. تقع مقابر بني حسن المنحوتة في الصخر وأطلال تل العمارنة — عاصمة إخناتون قصيرة العمر — بهدوء على ضفاف النهر، بعيدًا عن ازدحام الأقصر وأسوان.
