Stretching along a thousand kilometres of Mediterranean coastline to the Libyan border, Matruh mixes turquoise beach resorts with deep desert history. Inland, the remote Siwa Oasis once hosted the Oracle of Amun, while the coast bears the scars and cemeteries of the WWII Battle of El Alamein.
