Sitting at the midpoint of the Suez Canal between Port Said and Suez, Ismailia was purpose-built in the 1860s as the canal's administrative centre and still hosts the Suez Canal Authority today. Leafy streets and the waterside setting of Lake Timsah earned it the nickname “City of Beauty and Enchantment.”
تقع الإسماعيلية عند منتصف قناة السويس بين بورسعيد والسويس، وبُنيت خصيصًا في ستينيات القرن التاسع عشر كمركز إداري للقناة، ولا تزال تستضيف هيئة قناة السويس حتى اليوم. أكسبها موقعها الأخضر المطل على بحيرة التمساح لقب «مدينة الجمال والسحر».
