Rising to 394 metres across 77 floors, the Iconic Tower is both the tallest building and the tallest structure in Africa, overtaking earlier record-holders by a wide margin. It is a mixed-use supertall, combining offices, residences, a hotel, and observation decks with sweeping views over the new city and the desert beyond. Designed by Dar al-Handasah and built by the China State Construction Engineering Corporation, it topped out in 2021 and was completed in 2024 — a genuine engineering milestone for Egypt and the continent.

The tower's design is striking: its body gracefully twists as it rises, while its crown is shaped like an unopened lotus bud — an ancient Egyptian symbol of renewal and rebirth. Building it was a feat in itself: its enormous foundation slab was poured in a single, record-setting operation to anchor the tower firmly in the soft desert ground.

The Iconic Tower does not stand alone. It is the flagship of the Central Business District of the New Administrative Capital — a cluster of around twenty towers built together to form a brand-new financial downtown for Egypt. The district is designed to draw banks, businesses, and investment to the new city, with the Iconic Tower as its unmistakable symbol, visible for miles across the desert and instantly marking the skyline of 21st-century Egypt.
