Founded by Alexander the Great in 331 BC, Alexandria was once the intellectual capital of the ancient world. Today it's Egypt's second-largest city — a Mediterranean port with a long seaside corniche, Greco-Roman ruins, and a modern library that carries the name of its legendary predecessor.
أسسها الإسكندر الأكبر عام 331 قبل الميلاد، وكانت العاصمة الفكرية للعالم القديم. اليوم هي ثاني أكبر مدن مصر — ميناء متوسطي بكورنيش طويل وآثار يونانية رومانية ومكتبة حديثة تحمل اسم سابقتها الأسطورية.
