Sitting between the Rosetta and Damietta branches of the Nile, Gharbia is the industrial and religious heart of the central Delta. Its capital Tanta hosts one of Egypt's largest moulids at the Sayed Al-Badawi Mosque, while El Mahalla El Kubra anchors the country's textile industry.
تقع الغربية بين فرعي رشيد ودمياط من النيل، وهي القلب الصناعي والديني لوسط الدلتا. تستضيف عاصمتها طنطا واحدًا من أكبر الموالد في مصر عند مسجد السيد البدوي، بينما ترسو صناعة النسيج المصرية في المحلة الكبرى.
