Stretching west of the Rosetta branch of the Nile, Beheira is one of the Delta's great agricultural governorates — its cotton fields and canals give way to the ancient monasteries of Wadi El Natrun and the Mediterranean fishing town of Rosetta, where the Rosetta Stone was found.

تمتد البحيرة غرب فرع رشيد من النيل، وهي من كبرى محافظات الدلتا الزراعية — حقول القطن والقنوات تفسح المجال لأديرة وادي النطرون القديمة وبلدة رشيد الساحلية التي عُثر فيها على حجر رشيد.
