محافظة السويسSuez Governorate

A commercial port since the 7th century, Suez developed into a modern city after the Suez Canal opened in 1869. Fully urban and highly industrialized, the governorate anchors the canal's southern end where it meets the Gulf of Suez, and gives its name to the waterway itself.

كانت السويس ميناءً تجاريًا منذ القرن السابع، وتطورت إلى مدينة حديثة بعد افتتاح قناة السويس عام 1869. المحافظة حضرية بالكامل وصناعية بدرجة عالية، وترسو عند الطرف الجنوبي للقناة حيث تلتقي بخليج السويس، وتحمل القناة اسمها.
