محافظة الفيومFaiyum Governorate

A short drive from Cairo, Faiyum is Egypt's great depression oasis, fed by a Nile offshoot and centred on Lake Qarun — one of the oldest lakes on Earth. Beyond the lake, the protected wetlands of Wadi El Rayan hold Egypt's only waterfalls, while ancient pyramid ruins recall the governorate's role as a favoured Middle Kingdom retreat.

تبعد الفيوم مسافة قصيرة عن القاهرة، وهي واحة مصر المنخفضة الكبرى، يغذيها فرع من النيل وتتمحور حول بحيرة قارون — من أقدم البحيرات على وجه الأرض. وخارج البحيرة، تضم أراضي وادي الريان الرطبة المحمية شلالات مصر الوحيدة، بينما تذكّر أطلال الأهرامات القديمة بدور المحافظة كمنتجع مفضل في الدولة الوسطى.
