Egypt is, quite simply, the orange capital of the world. For six consecutive years it has ranked as the planet's number-one exporter of oranges, shipping around two million tons of citrus a year to markets across Europe, the Gulf, Asia, and beyond. Sweetened by abundant sunshine and grown on both old Nile farmland and vast new reclaimed land, Egyptian citrus has become the flagship of the country's booming agricultural exports.

Egyptian oranges are prized abroad for their sweetness, colour, and consistency, and the country has steadily expanded into markets across the world.

Egypt's climate is close to perfect for citrus — long, sunny days and mild winters produce fruit with high sugar and rich flavour. Citrus is grown both on the fertile old lands of the Nile and increasingly on newly reclaimed desert farms with modern irrigation. Beyond oranges, Egypt produces tangerines, lemons, and other citrus, but it is the orange that has made the country a global leader and a household name in fruit markets worldwide.
